Is big data really living up to its hype, reports Forbes.

In a May 2011 special research report, Big data: The next frontier for innovation, competition, and productivity, the management consulting firm McKinsey put forth the case that “Big data will become a key basis of competition, underpinning new waves of productivity growth, innovation, and consumer surplus.”

In 2018 there were numerous Big Data predictions from industry leaders. For instance, there will be a high demand for data scientists. Big Data will become more accessible. Information retrieval and NLP will see a surge in use. Now that we are in Q4 of 2019, did those and other predictions live up to the hype or go beyond industry expectations?
