Broadvoice takes data privacy and security seriously read the first sentence of the US-based cloud VoiP provider’s press release published on October 15, 2020 via Threatpost. For five days between September 28^th and October 2^nd, over 350 million customer records were left exposed online where anyone could access them.  

Poet Maya Angelou once said, “if you don’t like something, change it…” and that’s exactly what data scientist Rebekah Jones did. Dissatisfied with the way the Department of Health in the state of Florida was reporting Covid-19 statistics - Jones created her own dashboard to accurately depict infection and death rates in her state.

The United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado recently announced their new Data Science major for incoming cadets as of June 4^th. In a press release from the academy, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Goldfein stated, “It’s not enough to have more data than our adversaries. It’s how we understand the information and use it at the speed of relevance that matters.”

With a few more weeks to go in the NFL season I checked back in with Stephanie Martin and Matty Van Riper to see if the statistics they had used to pick their fantasy football teams at the beginning of the season were proving to be successful. Was their strategy of winging it or using statistics to pick their teams working or hindering their team’s performance?
