Manufacturing facilities are complex operations. By manufacturing standards, some of the “newer” plants are over 25 years old. It is also quite common that a plant built for one specific purpose years ago is used today by a different manufacturer making different products. Adding to the complexity, no two manufacturing plants in the world are identical. They are all different shapes, sizes, and in different locations. Heating and cooling systems at a plant in the California desert will react differently compared to a plant in Calgary, Canada.

These are perhaps the two greatest challenges in digitally transforming manufacturing plants into smart factories. This transformation requires thousands of sensors and IoT devices measuring every aspect of plant operations as often as every 50 milliseconds.

Many manufactures are applying advanced analytics to this data to change how resources are consumed, creating a more profitable and sustainable operation.

One example is minimizing production interruptions by predicting failure. Data analytics can improve manufacturers’ competitive advantage through cost savings, efficiencies, and quality. In today’s world, where goods and services are commoditized, cost and quality become an most important competitive advantage.

Lightapp is a resource management software platform to help manufacturers optimize resource allocation, improve quality, decrease downtime, streamline maintenance activities, and reduce costs. We recently announced Lightapp Analytics, a new mobile application for manufacturers that enables them to manage their smart factories from any location, at any time.

With Lightapp Analytics, organizations can now keep up to date on machine and system performance, schedule and track work orders, and manage inventory, all while on-the-go from any iOS or Android device.

Due to the nature of their work, many users have infrequent access to a computer. With the Lightapp Analytics Mobile app we deliver access to the entire factory at your fingertips. Users can receive real-time notifications about problems, conduct analysis, create work orders and make decisions to more efficiently run their plant, regardless of where they are.

Lightapp’s intelligent resource management software platform offers easy-to-use tools that provide data analytics and a clear path to more profitable and sustainable operations. Lightapp offers straightforward KPI’s for faster decision-making with faster collaboration and team alignment, which allows for increased maintenance and operational productivity.

Key advantages of Lightapp Analytics include:

Mobility - Access Lightapp and real-time plant data from anywhere, whether at your desk or on the shop floor.

Ease of use - Summarized data and KPIs highlight what’s important and streamline the creation of work orders.

Flexibility - Quickly and securely connect and view all your factory’s data in one place, regardless of the machine or source.
