According to Built in Chicago, Caterpillar uses big data to ensure that heavy equipment doesn’t have down time.
In a desolate and dry corner of the Chilean desert, a mining truck with a 400-ton payload runs close to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week over treacherous terrain, transporting the minerals required to build cell phones, car engines, and home heating systems.

With Intuit’s announcement that it is buying Credit Karma, regulators are beginning to look at how tech companies are using big data, reports ARS Technica.
